State of the Union recap: The good, the bad, and the ugly.
First, the good:
- ... *crickets*
- ... ... ... ... ... *bored crickets*
- ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... *really bored crickets*
- ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... *crickets going out to get some coffee*
- CJ at Chicken Foot Stew doesn't hold back.
- North Star Politics saw no advantage for Bush and his Republican allies, writing that "they're still a sinking ship."
- Annatopia couldn't take it and that was just with the text copy of the SOTU speech.
- Gavin at Sadly, No! took a peek at the wingnut commentariat's Little Green Footballs and finds that they are more reserved in their "nuke 'em 'til they glow" outbursts... relatively speaking.
- Juan Cole has some serious thoughts on what we wouldn't hear at the SOTU, organized into ten parts.
- The writers at Wampum were a little distracted by something more compelling when they tried to liveblog the SOTU.
- Kevin at Lean Left wondered why we should even bother watching the SOTU. Wish I had read that before I decided to liveblog it.
- Fecke had SOTU fever. Hope he is feeling better. Someone please send him a bottle of Pepto Bismol for the oratory gutbomb he had to digest.
- Smartie responded in a thoughtful, intelligent manner, trying very hard to avoid yelling at the television screen. He's a better blogger than I am, because I simply couldn't take all of Bush's convoluted crapola. Rew gave some good public-speaking advice to Governor Kaine, too: Spee-ee-ee-eed u-u-u-u-p-p-p.
- To wrap this part up, Shant Mesrobian at Backlash Liberal has a video clip on the only moment of last night really worth watching.
- I don't think Mitch Berg engaged in the civil discourse Bush wanted to conduct last night, calling the Dems "soccer hooligans" when they rebutted Bush's admonition that he should always get his way. Note to Mitch: It's "loyal opposition," not "lapdog opposition." If you thought the Dems were rough on your little rich boy, then you wouldn't want to see the British Parliament on a mild day.
- Vinnie at Jawa Report didn't get the civil discourse memo, either. I thought the right wing was much more organized than that... y'know, like a little army in camo pajamas and armed with their M-16 keyboards.
- Tough guy Chad the Elder beats up on a woman who lost her son in Bush's war in Iraq who has yet to receive a straight answer from our shifty president as to why he had to die. Real classy people over there in Wingnutopia. Hey, Chad? Any word on those piles and piles of WMD Bush claimed were waiting for us to confiscate, yet? No? Thought so.

It looks good on screen because the blog has an obscenity filter on it. My original post was about three times that long. ;)

Ah, Moe. Dear, simple little Moe.
calling the Dems "soccer hooligans" when they rebutted Bush's admonition that he should always get his way.
Wrong, of course. I said they were hollering and stomping *like* a bunch of yoolies. There was no rebuttal (although the President's comeback was a f***ing classic), nor was there anything about "always" getting anything. It's stating a case.
You know - that thing none of your people have.

Who's Moe?
Swiftee calls me "Yowler." You call me "Moe." You two have something against my name that I should know?
No case? How 'bout those WMD in Iraq, Mitch? Bush still has no case there and you and your blogging buddies on the right have yet to call him on that.

Oh, don't you just love our little pets?
Anyway, hate to do any self promotion, but in case you haven't seen our little SOTU reaction video @ MN Stories, here's a link:
